A wire keeper for 38mm (1½in) belts and straps. Nickel plated.
It's the loop that sits next to the buckle and holds the loose end of the strap flat once it's fastened. Stitch or rivet it in behind the buckle when you make up the belt. The open frame is a rectangular wire loop, so it fits a strap of any thickness up to about 4mm. Also called a buckle loop or belt loop.
